Evaluation After Abnormal Pap Test Results

Family Practice Associates P.C. in Kearney, NE provides colposcopy when it is recommended after an abnormal cervical screening result or when additional evaluation is needed. A colposcopy uses a magnifying instrument that allows the provider to closely examine the cervix and surrounding tissue for any changes.

If an area requires further evaluation, a small tissue sample may be collected and sent to a laboratory for review. During your visit, the provider will explain the procedure, review your medical history, and discuss any findings and recommended follow-up. Colposcopy for Cervical Evaluation

Colposcopy is a procedure used to examine the cervix more closely when additional evaluation is recommended. A provider may suggest this procedure after certain screening results or if further assessment is needed. A colposcopy may be recommended if:

• A Pap test shows abnormal results
• Persistent HPV infection is identified
• Changes in cervical tissue are observed during an exam
• There is unexplained vaginal bleeding
• Additional evaluation of cervical health is advised

During the visit, the provider will explain the procedure, review the findings, and discuss any recommended next steps or follow-up care.
